Praying for the Kiddos

My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.”
 Isaiah 32:18

During our days here together we’ve talked a lot about being in the Word and praying–for it is the root of having an Isaiah 32:18 home!  We’ve already shared some resources on how to pray for our husbands, so I thought it would be good to take a moment to share some resources to help us in being faithful for praying for our children.

The best resource is the Word.  If you never have before, I’d encourage you to ask the Lord for a word for your children.  When I was pregnant, the Lord gave me Isaiah 54:13 for my child, “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”  I now use this Scripture to pray for my little Jude.

A classic resource is Stormie O’Martins “The Power of a Praying Parent” along with her book of Prayers.

A resource that I have just recently stumbled upon is the blog, Oh, Amanda.  She’s got awesome resources, including free Scripture prints!  That’s not all…she has a free e-book:  Praying God’s Word for Your Kids.  Go get it now!

Just yesterday I discovered these:  Children A-Z Prayer Cards.  You can use these to teach your children Scripture, but you can also use them to pray specific Scriptures for your children.  (She also has pregnancy and husband prayer cards.)

Lastly, the same website that has the prayer calendar for praying for our husbands, has a prayer calendar for praying for our children…Free!  Click here to download it.

I’d love to hear from y’all in the comment section if you have a specific resource that you use to pray for your children!   Before I head to bed, you want to know one other secret of mine?  Each morning after I’ve had my cup of coffee, and Jude is awake, I head upstairs to get him.  But–before I open the door, I get on my knees in front of his door.   It’s usually just a quick moment, but a moment long enough to surrender our day together to the Lord and most days I simply ask that Jesus would make Himself known to Jude (oh, and I usually ask for an outpouring of patience and that Love would abound :).
