19 weeks…

Can you believe it…we’re almost halfway there!

According to baby center during his/her 19th week:

Your baby’s sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don’t be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

How exciting is all of that? So much to be praying into for this little one.  I find it great joy that the Lord has allowed me to carry this little one and entrusted Robert and I to raise it to grow to know Him in a deep, personal way.

19 week highlights:

  • We had a visit from McMom and Robert’s grandparents–we took them up Kennesaw Mountain for the first of Little Hoot’s trips up.  This trip was in the car.  Looking forward to the day we get to hike it with Little Hoot (with Robert carrying the baby of course!)
  • I’ve been teaching on Acts and the Holy Spirit for the month of October at youth and the Lord has just shown me so much through preparing for this teaching and stirred up such a desire for this little one to walk in the fullness that He has for him/her.  During week 19, I was preparing to teach on the baptism of the Holy Spirit and oh how I love reading the Word and laying hands on my womb as the Lord stirred my own heart for more.
  • I turned 31 during Little Hoot’s 19th week.  He/she got to have Shogun’s Japanese Steakhouse for lunch and P.F. Changs for dinner and a Coldstone Ice Cream cake for dessert….was so yummy…not looking forward to this month’s weigh in…
  • Getting so close to our next appointment where we could find out the gender of little hoot–but I’m convinced more than ever about not finding out….I eagerly anticipate the big surprise in March!
